The Tay Foundation is a charitable trust which has a remit to perform research into all species of fish in the River Tay catchment area, their environment and anything which might impact upon them. It might also manage or advise on the management of fish stocks and it also has a remit to disseminate the findings of research and educate the public about all the species of fish and their environment in the River Tay and its tributaries.

The Tay Foundation is administered by a board of trustees. Currently these are:

William Jack

A representative of the Tay District Salmon Fisheries Board

John Young

A representative of the Tay Ghillies Association

Mr. Jim Jeffery

A representative of the Tay Liaison Committee

John Wood

A representative of the Tay District Salmon Fisheries Board

In its early years the Tay Foundation was mostly concerned with the buyouts of net fishing in the estuary of the River Tay. Since these were completed the Tay Foundation has started to focus on wider projects within the catchment. The Foundation has recently been reconstituted and has embarked on commissioning a number of new projects in 2006. Over the coming months through 2006and into 2007 it is looking to expand these projects and to increase its fundraising effort.
