The most effective way of increasing numbers
of salmon and trout is usually to increase their
range if possible. In some tributaries the habitat
available has been reduced because impediments
like weirs, bridge aprons and culverts prevent
or impede their passage at spawning time. Removing
or easing these obstructions is a priority. A
number of problem weirs and culverts exist within
the Tay catchment and this project aims to engage
contractors ease three of them. |
