In 2000 the Tay Foundation supported a study into the
fish community at the western end of Loch Tay. This
study had been prompted because of local observations
that a new species, roach, had arrived in the Loch and
that numbers of pike were also thought to have increased.
The study confirmed that roach had become abundant and that they were a major component of the diet of pike in the area.
